Chapter 15-18 summary

Huck and Jim figured that they are starting to get close to Cairo and it would only take a few more days and they would be there. One night there was alot of fog and they were trying to head for a towhead to tie to. The fog was too thick and there wasn't anything but little saplings to tie to. Huck lost Jim in the canoe and could not see Jim or the raft anywhere. He kept hearing whoops but he did not think it was Jim. Finally the whoops went away and Huck fell asleep. When he awoke, all the fog was gone and he could see around him. He found Jim and the raft and pretended that he had been there the whole time. Jim thought he had been dreaming but then he found out that Huck was lying to him and that it all had really happened. Jim was very disappointed and Huck decided he would never play any more tricks on him. Huck started feeling guilty because he was helping a runaway slave get free. Huck is on his way to a town to see how close they are to Cairo and he runs into some slave catchers. He decided not to turn Jim in and he got away with the men not checking his raft by making them believe that his family had the small pox. The slave catchers gave Huck forty dollars. Huck and Jim beleived that the found Cairo but they had to wait for dark to head out so they selpt until dark. Then they went back to the raft and notice the canoe was stolen. They were looking for a place that sold canoes when they saw a steamboat coming right for them. They thought it would steer off but it never did and they had to jump overboard. Huck swam to shore by hanging on to a plank. He found a log house and met the Grangerfords. They thought he might of been a Sheperdson at first so they examined him to make sure he wasn't. They let him in and got him some food. He also got some dry clothes to put on. He got to know all about their family. One day Huck and Jim went out in the woods and saw a Sheperdson on a horse. He shot at him but only got his hat. Buck told Huck all about the feud that was going on inbetween the two families. One of the slaves tells Huck to go to the swamp and he wants to show him some water-moccasins. He actually showed him where Jim was and he had fixed the raft. Miss Sophia had ran off to be with one of the Sheperdon's boys and there was no way that the Grangefords was going to let it happen so all the men and boys got their guns and headed out. Huck heard shots being fired and Buck was killed. Huck hid in a tree till dark and then went back to Jim and headed back out on the raft. Huck felt alot more comfortable now being on the raft and away from all the firing.

Huckleberry Finn

Characters- Huck, Pap, Miss Watson, Widow Douglas, Tom Sawyer, Jim, and Judge Thatcher. So far Huck seems to have a bad home life and has ran away. He does not want to become civilized. The widow and Miss Watson seemed to be strict. His father is a drunk and locks him inside the house when he is gone. Eventually Huck escapes from the house and takes alot of items out of the house and takes off in a canoe he found floating in the river. It has been a very adventerous book so far.

Alas, Babylon

I thought Alas, Babylon was an exciting book. The first chapters in the book were a little boring but it ended up being very interesting. My favorite part of the book was when the war was going on and there was alot of action. It was also interesting to read about how they survived when they were almost out of everything.

I liked the book alot more than the movie because it gave alot more detail.

Of Mice and Men

It was a good book because it kept me interested and it was not really long.
